Quarterly Round-Up

It’s been a busy one in the studio over the last few months, and while we’ve been getting stuck into lots of lovely projects we haven’t had a second to share them! Cue the start of our Quarterly Round-Up – our space to take a break from being busy little bees and share the projects we’ve had the privilege of working on recently. To kick off we’ve got a new brand, some beautiful print and a quirky campaign.

Corona Coffee — Rebrand

We’re big coffee fans in the Friends studio, so this project was a real joy. Corona Coffee are true craftsmen, their enthusiasm for all things coffee related is obviously off the chart and the quality of customer service they bring is second to none. Having self-branded at the start of their journey the time had come to bring their branding inline with where the business had grown to, as well as building in longevity to help future-proof the business.

Playful exploration led to a brand full of unique character, portraying Corona Coffee’s expertise, energy and positive personality. These brand values are perfectly balanced throughout the whole brand identity; the contemporary wordmarque, although not a typical serif font gives a nod to classic styling because of it’s subtle modern flourishes and the supporting typography is kept clean and simple, partnering the wordmarque perfectly. The confident and independent nature of Corona Coffee comes to life with it’s bold and theatrical colour palette. We’re really thrilled with the outcomes of this collaboration and so excited to see this brand develop.

The Alverton — Seasonal brochure

The sweltering summer sun may feel like a distant memory by now, but it feels like just yesterday we were working on this lovely piece of print in preparation for the summer months. The Alverton commissioned this summer brochure to show off their stunning Grade II listed building and entice guests with some of the best that sunny Cornwall has to offer.

As always we enjoyed pouring over paper samples to spec something that would give the reader happy hands as they flicked through the pages, and on this occasion a lovely smooth uncoated heavyweight paper was chosen. Combined with bespoke illustration and a layout intended to really let the imagery sing, this bright and clean brochure gives the reader a true feel for a unique Cornish summer.

Instinct Bites – Freshers Campaign

Back at the start of the academic year, innovative foodie client Instinct Bites wanted to inject some humour and ‘joie de vivre’ into their latest Freshers’ Campaign. Inspired by their tagline ‘Fruit is evolving’, Friends created the coolest little fruit dudes. Come forth Stan the Strawberry and Kevin the Kiwi as the stars of this brilliantly fun student-focused campaign!

Part of this campaign was designed to raise brand awareness, introducing Stan and Kevin in some larger-than-life window vinyls. The other announced the launch of the sale of these healthy little fruit pieces across the University of Plymouth. Stan and Kevin have since become firm fixtures in the Instinct Bites family and we look forward to seeing these fruity friends continue to pop up in the near future.
